Frequently asked questions

How pure is the tungsten rod?

99.95% tungsten, lot controlled, stress relieved, and formed by high-temperature pressing and sintering.

What is pure tungsten rod used for?

It suits high-temperature applications such as furnace hardware, support pillars and fasteners, and is a staple for machine shops, labs and R&D.

Pure tungsten or tungsten alloy: which should I choose?

Pure tungsten handles the highest temperatures. Tungsten heavy alloy is much easier to machine, so it is usually the better choice for parts that need extensive machining.

What tolerances do you hold?

It depends on diameter. For example, 0.125 to 0.625 inch rod is held to +0.003 / -0 inch, and 0.035 to 0.050 inch rod to ±0.0005 inch. If you need a specific tolerance, contact mts@tungsten.com before ordering.

Can I get a material certificate?

Yes. Material certifications are available on request.

Can you cut rod to a custom length?

Yes. We can cut or custom make any rod to your specifications. Email mts@tungsten.com.
