Description
A solid tungsten heavy alloy ballast block for race cars, measuring 2.625" x 3.625" x 6.00" (+0.005"/-0 on all dimensions) and weighing about 35 lbs (15.9 kg).
- Alloy: MT-17F, 90% tungsten with nickel-iron (90WNiFe), per ASTM B777 Class 1
- Density: about 17 g/cc, roughly 50% denser than lead and more than twice as dense as steel
- Slightly magnetic
Tungsten lets you place a lot of weight in very little space, so ballast can go exactly where it does the most for balance and handling. The alloy machines well, so the block can be drilled and tapped for mounting.
