Tungsten Copper Rod conforms to ASTM B702. It's perfect for machine shops, research and development, DIY'ers, and labs.

Tungsten copper alloys are useful for their low thermal expansion, high wear resistance, low consumption, high arc resistance, and high thermal and electrical conductivity.

These tungsten copper alloys have a wide variety of applications from resistance welding electrodes, EDM electrodes, heat sinks, and others.

Midwest Tungsten Service has been manufacturing tungsten for 60 years!

Frequently asked questions

What is tungsten copper used for?

Tungsten copper combines tungsten's arc and wear resistance with copper's thermal and electrical conductivity. It is widely used for resistance welding electrodes, EDM electrodes and heat sinks.

Which grades do you stock?

90W10Cu, 80W20Cu, 75W25Cu, 70W30Cu, 68W32Cu and 55W45Cu. Higher tungsten content gives more wear and arc resistance; higher copper content gives more conductivity.

What standards does it meet?

80W20Cu meets ASTM B702 Class E and RWMA Class 12. 75W25Cu meets ASTM B702 Class D and RWMA Class 11. 70W30Cu and 68W32Cu meet ASTM B702 Class C. 55W45Cu is RWMA Class 10, and 90W10Cu is made to ASTM B702.

What are the diameter and length tolerances?

Diameters are held to +0.003 / -0 inch (0.0625 inch rod to +0.002 / -0 inch), and 8 and 12 inch lengths are cut to -0, so you never receive a rod smaller or shorter than ordered.

Can I get a material certificate?

Yes. All rods are lot controlled and ship with a material certificate on request.

Can you cut or make a custom size?

Yes. Email mts@tungsten.com for custom sizes, custom alloys or out-of-stock sizes.
