Description
The EVB 103040W is an external heater filament wound from three strands of 0.040" diameter 99.95% pure tungsten wire. It measures 4.00" long and 1.125" high, uses about 26.5" of wire and weighs about 9 grams.
Stranded tungsten heaters like this one are used in vacuum evaporation and metallizing systems to heat crucibles, boats and source material. Tungsten is used because it has the highest melting point of any metal (3,422 °C) and stays strong at the temperatures these sources reach.
