Alumina Coated Basket Filament

Alumina-coated tungsten basket filaments for thermal evaporation in vacuum coating systems. A stranded tungsten wire basket carries a fused aluminum oxide (alumina) coating, so the charge sits in a ceramic cup while the tungsten underneath does the heating.

The coating keeps molten metals from wetting or alloying with the tungsten, which makes these baskets the usual choice for evaporating aluminum, gold, silver, copper and other metals that would quickly attack a bare tungsten filament.

• Styles: AC-32, AC-33, AC-36, AC-37, AC-38 (4") and AC-42
• Construction: 99.95% pure tungsten wire with an alumina coating
• Use: resistance-heated evaporation sources for thin-film deposition
